Connecticut Valley Sno-Riders - President's Message

Connecticut Valley Sno-Riders Club President's Letter

October 2008

Dear Club Members:

We are about to begin a new snowmobile season. Last year was certainly a banner year for snowfall and we all enjoyed an extended snowmobile season. We hope that this year is a repeat of last year. Through the combined efforts of snowmobile clubs throughout Vermont, we are proud to be part of a state wide trail network of over 5500 miles. A majority of the Vermont trail network is on private lands and thanks to local clubs like ours we are able to use these private lands for our sport. Local clubs also build and maintain all of these trails and annually obtain land owner permission, brush and cut trails as necessary, and most importantly groom every mile of trail. The Connecticut Valley Sno-Riders maintain over 55 miles of this trail network concentrated in the northeast corner of the state. We have recently acquired additional miles of trail and expect to spending time bringing it up to our club???s standard. We groom several nights each week during the season and have a first rate groomer and drag to finely hone the snow. Our club also engages in fund raising activities during the year to enable us to keep our membership dues low. Our fall fund raiser is a "Hunter's Supper" which is scheduled on the first Saturday of Vermont's deer hunting rifle season. Each year we see an increasing number of diners attend our dinner. Our spring fund raiser is a Mother's Day and Land Owner appreciation breakfast. And again each year we see an increasing number of diners.

Last year for the second year we participated in the Great North Woods Winter Fest by staffing a radar run. Half of the funds raised at the radar run are contributed to the club. Our club meets the 3rd Saturday of the month September to April at 7:00 pm in the Maidstone Town Hall, Maidstone, VT. Visit our web site at: http://www.ctvalleysnoriders.com for up-to-date club information, trail conditions, weather conditions in the north and more!!!

We look forward to your membership in our club and hope that you have an enjoyable and safe snowmobile season.

Sincerely,
Al Rogers
President
